Washed Out Still Life

This is one of my first art pieces that I did during my time in six form. We were tasked to study a selection of objects within the art room and create an art piece which had a personalised style between the students. Some students went down the root of realism and created an almost photo-realistic artpiece. On the other hand, some students went with abstract work and made their work look completely off task but at the same time, capture the objects they were drawing.

I wanted to meet in the middle with my work, so what I decided on doing was make the objects look realistic but make the colours look abstract. That way I was able to capture both ends of the art style the class was aiming for. Once I had completed the art piece l, it came to my attention that the colours appeared "Washed Out". This is when I decided to base the name of my art piece on.

I like the overall outcome of this art piece as it meets within the middle of both realistic and abstract. The shapes of the objects like the bottle and cloth base are realistic, however the lighting and colour technique I have used makes it seem un-realistic. In conclusion, I am satisfied with the outcome of my work back then as it has allowed me to understand the artstyle I am using I'm my work today.
