Over the last few weeks, one of my peers from university has started up his own company, Unboxed Studios. I was given the opportunity to do some 3D modelling for him. He gave me a brief of what he needed and the general style and colour pallet. I have enjoyed helping him fulfil his dream of having a game studio to call his own. In addition, it has allowed me to make a balance between my full-time job and passion for the game industry.
During these weeks, I have been mainly working on my UV mapping skills as my peer requested to use realism for the texture to give the props a more life-like style. I'm happy with the outcomes of my UVs as they are easy to texture and large enough to add plenty of detail. Plus if I want to reuse a prop, with just a different colour. Having saved UV maps and texture matts, meant I can simply do a colour swap on the texture, save as new and place it on a duplicated prop.
